My name is Derek Hagberg, in 2007; I had the fortunate opportunity to relocate to Sun Valley with my family. With more than a decade of experience in the landscape industry I started my own business, East Fork Landscape Management. Complete and professional landscape maintenance based on knowledge and experience is the vision I hold for my company.
My experience in the landscape industry over the past 14 years has taken me from Illinois to Colorado, New Jersey and New York to Iowa and now Idaho.
While studying horticulture at Iowa State University, I worked on a landscape construction crew, specializing in landscape installations, stonework and water features.
I also worked for the USDA where I gained experience as an entomology lab technician. Raising insects for university research allowed me a greater understanding of insect life cycles and their relationship to plants. The summer of my junior year I completed an internship with Bartlett Tree Experts. Two weeks of training at the Bartlett research lab in Charlotte, North Carolina prepared me for my position as a plant health care technician in Chicago, Illinois.
After earning my B.S. in Horticulture, I relocated in Denver, Colorado Where I worked as a lead foreman for a landscape construction company. Installation and maintenance of irrigation systems, construction of large water features and landscape installation became my areas of expertise.
In 2003 I became a certified Arborist, and was employed at a large plant health care company (Savatree) in New Jersey / New York. I consulted with clients and sold specialized pruning, plant health care and lawn care programs. Returning to the Mid-West in 2005, I was employed as Operations Manager and Arborist in Iowa City, Iowa for a large landscape maintenance company. My responsibilities included overseeing the daily operations of lawn care, plant health care and landscape maintenance. |
